My doctor mentioned I have a bit too much amniotic fluid and I'm feeling quite worried. I wanted to understand what could be the reasons behind this. Has anyone else experienced this, and what did your doctor say?
Sometimes these things happen due to gestational diabetes or just naturally, but please stay positive and have faith in God. Just follow your doctor's advice carefully and take proper rest. Everything will be fine, keep praying and take care of your health.
Hearing about excess fluid can be so scary, and since I've had a loss before, I know how your mind must be racing. Please don't read scary articles online, just go to your doctor immediately and ask them to monitor the baby's heart rate and fluid levels. Sending you lots of prayers and strength.
Excess amniotic fluid, or polyhydramnios, can be caused by gestational diabetes, maternal-fetal blood incompatibility, or sometimes minor issues with the baby's swallowing. My doctor said that in many cases, it's just idiopathic, meaning there is no clear cause. You must get an ultrasound and glucose tolerance test done to find the exact reason.
I was told my fluid is slightly on the higher side, and honestly, it explains why I feel like an over-inflated balloon in my 3rd trimester, haha! It can be due to gestational diabetes or sometimes there is no specific reason. Definitely get your sugar tests done as advised by your doctor.
At my hospital, the doctors and sonographers were very thorough and explained that gestational diabetes is a common cause of high fluid levels. I highly recommend scheduling a detailed consultation with your gynac and asking them to explain the ultrasound report clearly so you know the next steps.
