My thyroid report came slightly off and the doc mentioned hyperthyroidism, im 10 weeks. I had normal thyroid before pregnancy so im confused how it happened now. Trying to understand what causes it during this time.
I had thyroid issues in pregnancy and the doc explained pregnancy hormones themselves can affect the thyroid, sometimes underlying conditions too. The main thing she stressed was regular blood tests and never skipping the follow ups.
My endocrinologist said it can be due to the pregnancy hormone hcg stimulating the thyroid, or a pre existing condition like Graves. She kept testing my levels every few weeks to adjust things.
Please get your thyroid monitored properly, mine needed careful management and it really matters for the baby. This is not something to self manage, stick with your doctor's plan.
