I feel sleepy all day but at night my mind is wide awake till 2-3 am. I am in third trimester and turning sides is also tough. Is this hormones or anxiety, anyone else?
Oh god, the insomnia was real for me! Especially in the third trimester. I just couldn't get comfortable, and my mind would race with all sorts of thoughts. I tried warm milk and reading, but sometimes nothing worked. It's just part of the pregnancy experience for many, I guess, that sleepless struggle.
Insomnia in pregnancy is quite common, unfortunately. It can be due to hormonal changes, physical discomfort like heartburn or restless legs, frequent bathroom trips, anxiety, or even vivid dreams. If it's really affecting your well-being, definitely discuss it with your gynecologist for strategies and solutions.
Insomnia can be really tough, especially after everything your body goes through, like with IVF. It's often a mix of physical changes like discomfort and hormonal shifts, along with the emotional and mental stress of carrying a baby. Be gentle with yourself, and try relaxation techniques. If it's very persistent, do talk to your doctor about ways to manage it, you deserve rest.
From what my doctor explained, hormones like progesterone can make you sleepy but also disrupt sleep cycles. Plus, as the baby grows, physical discomforts like needing to pee often, leg cramps, heartburn, and just finding a comfortable position contribute a lot. Anxiety about labor or the baby can also play a big role.
Lack of sleep can be so tiring. Sometimes, it's just normal pregnancy discomforts. But it's also important to rule out other things. If you're constantly exhausted but can't sleep, it's good to mention it to your doctor in your regular check-ups. Sometimes other underlying issues, like thyroid imbalance, can also affect sleep, so keep them informed.
