I'm in my second trimester and have been experiencing some pain on my left side, sometimes dull, sometimes sharp. What generally causes left side pain during pregnancy? Is this normal?
Having PCOS made me over-analyze every single pain, but left side pain can sometimes just be gas or ligament stretch. However, please be cautious and let your doctor know, especially in early pregnancy. Don't take any chances.
If the pain is sharp or persistent, you should contact your hospital emergency line or your gynac immediately. When I felt a similar twinge, I called my hospital's desk and they had me come in for a quick scan just to be 100% safe.
It could just be your round ligament stretching as your uterus grows, which is very common. I had it too and managed to have a smooth normal delivery. Just try not to make sudden movements and take deep breaths.
I have read about this online because we are trying to conceive. Could it be gas or just stretching? If anyone else has faced this, please share what helped you cope.
Look, minor stretching pain is normal as the baby grows. But if the left side pain is very severe, or if you have any spotting, don't sit around waiting. Call your gynac immediately and get it checked.
