My double marker report shows low PAPP-A and I am honestly very anxious after seeing it. Gynac has called me for follow up but appointment is tomorrow. Anyone had this and how did your pregnancy monitoring go?
It's connected to the placenta and how it's working. The important thing is it's one part of a bigger screening, not the whole picture. Your doctor will combine it with scans and other values and decide if any extra monitoring is needed.
My doctor explained PAPP-A is a protein from the placenta measured in the first trimester screening. A low value can sometimes be associated with placental function, and it's used along with other markers. She stressed that one low value alone isn't a diagnosis, follow up matters.
I had a low PAPP-A in my screening and got worried too. My doctor said it can be linked to how the placenta is developing, and they just monitored me more closely with extra scans. Please discuss your specific report with your gynac, they'll tell you what it means for you.
I know that screening can be nerve wracking. Low PAPP-A is something doctors take note of and just watch more carefully with extra checkups. It's not a final verdict on anything. Sit with your gynac and let them guide you, you'll be okay.
Honestly when mine came low I googled like crazy and scared myself silly. Please don't do that. My gynac calmly explained the reasons and put me on closer monitoring and everything turned out okay. Talk to your doctor, not google.
