What causes numbness in hands and feet during pregnancy?
Im 32 weeks and lately my hands go numb especially when i wake up, sometimes my feet too. It feels a bit weird and tingly. Is this a normal pregnancy thing or should i bring it up with my doctor?
I had this in both pregnancies, mostly tingling in fingers at night. Its usually swelling related and goes after delivery. But dont ignore if its with bad headache or sudden swelling, get BP checked then.
My gynac said its often due to swelling pressing on nerves, like carpal tunnel in the wrists which is common in pregnancy. Fluid retention is usually the reason. She told me to keep hands elevated and it did ease a bit.
Its quite common beta, the extra fluid in the body presses on nerves. Try not to sleep on your arms and keep feet up when resting. Do tell your doctor though so they keep an eye.
Some of it is normal pregnancy swelling, but numbness along with high BP or sudden puffiness should be checked immediately. Please mention it at your next visit, better doctor confirms its the harmless kind.
