Since last week ek sharp pain is shooting from my lower back down to my leg, im in my third trimester. It gets worse when i sit too long. Why does this happen in pregnancy?
It’s mainly the baby's weight pressing down as they shift lower into the pelvis. I had terrible sciatica in my third trimester but prenatal yoga and regular short walks helped me manage it naturally. It completely vanished the day I had my normal delivery, so hang in there!
Oh, that annoying shooting pain is just the baby getting comfy on your nerve! 😅 It happens because of the weight shift and hormone changes. Try sleeping with a pregnancy pillow between your knees, it really helps align everything! 💕
I’ve been reading up on this because I want to conceive soon and already have minor back issues. Is the pain really bad, and does it go away immediately after delivery? Would love to know what exercises you guys did to prevent it.
According to my tracker app, it's usually caused because your growing uterus and the baby's position start putting direct pressure on the sciatic nerve. Plus, the relaxin hormone loosens your ligaments, which shifts your posture. Doing light stretching really helped me track and manage the pain.
Look, your body is carrying extra weight and your posture is changing, so that nerve in your lower back gets pressed. It's very common, especially in the later months. Don't sit in one place for too long and try using a hot water bag for some relief.
