The heartburn lately is honestly unbearable, like a burning right up to my throat especially at night. Im around 30 weeks. Why does it get this bad and does it mean anything about the baby? cant sleep properly because of it.
My gynac told me its because pregnancy hormones relax the valve at the top of the stomach, so acid comes up more easily, and later the growing uterus pushes on the stomach too. Thats why it gets worse in the third trimester. She suggested small frequent meals and not lying down right after eating, which helped me a lot.
Currently in my 8th month and burping fire over here haha. Baby has zero space for my stomach apparently. Propping up with extra pillows at night actually saved my sleep a bit.
Mild heartburn is normal but if its really severe and food changes arent helping, do ask your gynac. Dont start any antacid on your own, let the doctor suggest what is safe in pregnancy.
Honestly all my favourite spicy chaat and fried stuff turned against me, the heartburn was killer. I had to cut down oily and very spicy food, which broke my heart a little. Eating slowly and smaller portions made a big difference though.
