My feet and ankles have started swelling these days, im in 7th month. By evening it gets bohot worse and shoes dont even fit. Is this normal ya should i be worried?
I felt so scared when my feet suddenly looked huge in my third trimester, I felt like my skin would stretch and tear! But my doctor told me it's normal fluid buildup. It went away soon after my baby was born.
Swelling is usually just water retention because of the extra blood in our body. I used to keep my feet elevated on a couple of pillows while sleeping and it really helped. Simple ghar ke nuskhe like warm water soaks are great.
Sometimes high salt in food can cause extra swelling. Since I had gestational diabetes, I had to be very careful with my diet anyway, so I kept my salt low and drank lots of water. Do consult your doctor if it's severe.
Mild swelling is fine, it's just extra water. But watch your salt intake and don't sit with your legs hanging for hours. If it's a lot or u feel dizzy, go to the doctor directly, don't sit and guess.
From my experience, mild swelling in the ankles is just your body holding onto extra fluids. I found that staying hydrated actually helped flush out the water, and doing light ankle rotations helped. But don't stand for too long.
My feet were so swollen I couldn't wear my regular slippers! But it's totally normal and got completely cured after my normal delivery. Keep moving thoda thoda and elevate your feet.
I totally understand how tough it is to see your body change and feel that heavy, swollen feeling. You are doing amazing, mama, just rest as much as u can and put your feet up.
Don't stress, foot swelling is very common as the baby grows and presses on your veins. But sweetie, if the swelling is very sudden or also on your face and hands, please call your gynac immediately to check your BP.
I know how scary any symptom can feel. While mild swelling is very common, please be safe and keep track of your blood pressure. It's always best to just mention it to your gynecologist for peace of mind.
