My gynac put me on progesterone support after my first scan and didnt really explain why. Im in my 8th week and just trying to understand what this hormone actually does for the baby. Anyone know in simple terms?
In my IVF journey progesterone support was central, it helps hold and support the early pregnancy. I took it exactly as prescribed and never adjusted it myself. If u r on it, trust ur doctor's plan fully, ok.
My gynac explained progesterone helps maintain the uterine lining and supports the pregnancy in the early stages. Thats why its given as support when there's spotting or after IVF. The exact need and dose is always doctor decided though.
Simply put it helps keep the pregnancy stable in the early weeks. Some women need extra support, some dont, depends on the case. Let ur doctor decide if u need it.
