My eyes have been so dry and itchy lately, maybe coz of all the screen time. Im 22 weeks and scared to just pick up anything from the medical shop. Anyone used eye drops while pregnant, what did ur gynac allow?
Lubricant or basic moisturizing drops are usually the safe category for plain dryness, but I'd never tell you a brand to buy yourself. Each pregnancy is different. Just ring your doctor and they'll confirm which one is okay for you.
Honestly this depends on what your eye problem is, dryness vs infection vs allergy need different drops. Some are safe in pregnancy and some are not. The safest route is to let your gynac or eye specialist decide, don't self medicate.
For plain dryness, doctors usually allow simple lubricating or artificial tears type drops, but anything medicated must be on prescription. I never used random ones. Just call your doctor, it's a 2 minute thing and you're safe.
Please don't pick eye drops on your own during pregnancy, even simple looking ones can have medicine that gets absorbed. I always asked my doctor before using anything. Tell your gynac or an eye doctor what the issue is and they'll give a safe one.
