What fruits to eat during first trimester of pregnancy?
Just entered my first trimester and want to eat healthy from day one. Confused which fruits are good and which to avoid ekdum. What did u all eat early on?
Honestly, in my first trimester, the only fruit I could tolerate without throwing up was cold watermelon! Bananas are also great for preventing leg cramps. Just stay away from raw papaya unless you want your elders giving you a 2-hour lecture!
When I was in my first trimester, pomegranate and apples were my absolute saviors! Don't stress too much about eating everything, just eat what you can digest. Avoid raw papaya, and you are good to go.
I was so scared to eat any fruit in the first three months! I washed everything three times in warm water. Apples, pears, and oranges are very safe, but please do double-check with your doctor if you feel anxious about any fruit.
My doctor recommended citrus fruits like oranges and sweet limes because they are rich in vitamin C and folate. She also told me to avoid green papaya completely due to latex, which can cause uterine contractions. Apples and bananas are perfectly safe and great for energy.
My saas always insisted on apples, bananas, and pomegranates during my first trimester. She strictly told me to keep away from raw papaya and pineapple, which even my doctor agreed with!
Pomegranate was my favorite because it helped with my hemoglobin levels early on. Bananas are also great because they are easy on the stomach when you have morning sickness. Just wash them thoroughly before eating.
