First pregnancy and my gynac mentioned some genetic tests but I didnt fully understand which ones. Thoda nervous because of all the names. Can someone who has been through it tell me what all is usually done?
Uff, so many blood draws! I had the dual marker test done around 12th week and then some other scans, my arms felt like a pincushion honestly. Just let your doc order whatever is standard, easier than doing research online.
My premium maternity package covered the NIPT and double marker tests. The hospital coordinator explained everything so clearly to us before the blood draw. Definitely ask your gynac's team for a list of necessary screenings.
Honestly those big scientific terms like dual marker and karyotyping scared me so much lol. But actually they are just normal blood tests. Don't worry, you won't need a biology degree to get through them, just let your doctor decide!
haha when my doctor was explaining all these double marker and NIPT tests, my mind was only thinking about the hot samosas outside the clinic! But yes, they are simple blood tests and scans, your gynac will guide you best.
My mother in law said we never did all this in our times, but my husband and I decided to trust our doctor. We went ahead with the double marker test as advised. It is very standard these days, so listen to your gynac.
Usually gynac suggests NT scan and Double Marker test in the first trimester. It is completely routine so don't stress. Just follow what your doctor recommends based on your age and medical history.
These tests are just routine now to keep our minds calm. Have faith in God and do the double marker scan if your gynac has written it. Praying for your healthy journey ahead, beta.
