What happens if platelet count is low during pregnancy?
My latest report showed platelets on the lower side and the lab person said keep monitoring. Im a bit worried now and will discuss with my gynac in next visit, but in the meantime wanted to understand what it really means during pregnancy.
My platelets dropped in my last trimester and the doctors watched it very closely with repeat blood tests. Mild drop is common and often nothing serious, but please dont take it lightly, your gynac needs to track it. Follow her exactly on this one.
A small drop in platelets is fairly common in pregnancy and usually managed with monitoring. If it goes very low it can affect things at delivery, so your doctor decides the plan. Just keep up with the prescribed blood tests and dont skip them.
Dont panic seeing the number, in many pregnancies it dips a little and settles fine. The important thing is your gynac is keeping an eye on it. Just rest well, eat properly and go for the follow up tests she asks.
I tried adding more papaya leaf juice when mine was slightly low, but honestly i told my doctor first and she okayed it as a small thing. For real low counts, please dont rely on home stuff, that needs proper medical care.
