What happens if sugar level is high during pregnancy?
My gtt test came a bit high and doctor said it might be gestational diabetes. i'm 26 weeks and honestly a little scared now. what does high sugar actually do to the baby and to me? wanted to know from others who went through it.
My family kept giving food suggestions but I checked everything with my doctor first. High sugar can affect baby so I took the diet seriously yet calmly. Small changes in rice and sweets made a big difference for me.
I had gestational diabetes and high sugar can affect baby size and your delivery, so it really needs watching. My gynac put me on a diet plan and regular sugar monitoring. With proper care it stayed controlled and my baby was fine, so dont panic but do follow your doctor.
My doctor said uncontrolled high sugar can lead to a bigger baby, more chance of C-section, and issues with BP. That is why they do the glucose test in pregnancy. The good news is once caught, diet and follow-up keep it managed.
The glucose test is not very costly and totally worth doing on time. Managing sugar early saved me from bigger expenses later honestly. Home glucometer was a one-time buy and helped me track without too many lab trips.
Please dont take high sugar lightly, mine needed close monitoring and I had extra scans. It is very manageable but only with your gynac guiding the diet and checks. Do not try to handle it alone with home remedies.
When my sugar was borderline, I just split meals into smaller portions and walked after eating, doctor approved of course. Cut down on sweets and refined stuff but didnt starve myself. It fit into my work routine once I planned it.
