Just got my reports and my thyroid is on the higher side, im 9 weeks. Gynac has asked me to come next week but till then im a bit tensed thinking what it can do to the baby. Anyone went through this during pregnancy?
Please dont take this lightly, get a proper consult. In my case the levels needed careful adjusting and self googling only made me more anxious. Your gynac or endocrinologist is the right person to guide the dose.
Just set reminders for your blood tests, that is the practical bit. I used to do mine on the way to office so I never missed. Keeping levels in range is the whole game, rest doctor manages.
High thyroid just means you need monitoring, not panic. Get your tests done on time and take whatever your doctor prescribes. So many women have thyroid and deliver healthy babies, it is very common now.
Mine was slightly off too and I got so scared first. May I ask, did your doctor put you on medicine right away or just watched it? I am still figuring out how often I need testing.
Take a breath, it is manageable. The doctors handle thyroid all the time in pregnancy, you just have to be regular with tests and medicines. You will be okay.
My gynac explained that uncontrolled thyroid can affect the baby's growth and the pregnancy, which is why they monitor it closely. But she said with proper medicine and regular TSH checks it stays under control. Please dont stress just keep your appointments.
I had thyroid issues through both pregnancies so I know this worry. The main thing is dont skip your follow up tests, my doc checked levels every few weeks and adjusted accordingly. Once it was managed properly everything went totally fine for me.
