What happens if we eat unripe papaya during pregnancy?
Accidentally khaaya thoda papaya in a salad yesterday, not sure if it was fully ripe or not. Now im a little tense reading stuff online. Is it really that risky or am i overthinking?
Actually, unripe papaya has high levels of latex and papain, which can cause uterine spasms. That's why we always advise pregnant patients to avoid raw or semi-ripe papaya completely. If you had a tiny bit by mistake, don't panic, but don't eat it again.
Oh god, don't eat it at all! I recently delivered my baby boy, and my doctor had put unripe papaya on the absolute 'NO' list from day one. It has some enzymes that cause contractions, so please stay away from raw papaya salads.
Unripe papaya can trigger uterine contractions and cause bleeding, which means emergency hospital visits and heavy bills. Let's not take that risk and avoid it completely. Put that money into your delivery fund instead of dealing with avoidable complications.
Yaar, raw papaya is actually quite risky during pregnancy, so please avoid it. It can cause contractions and bleeding which is not good at all. I know some Chinese food or salads have it, but just skip it for a few months, not worth the tension!
It's a big NO. Unripe papaya contains latex which behaves like oxytocin and causes early contractions. Just skip the raw papaya and stick to safer fruits like apples or oranges. There's no point in taking unnecessary risks.
My doctor explained this clearly in my 8th week checkup. She said the latex in raw papaya can trigger labor-like contractions and is very dangerous. Ripe yellow papaya is sometimes considered fine in small amounts, but raw/green papaya is a complete no-no.
