What happens if you drink less water during pregnancy?
I'm finding it difficult to drink enough water every day, especially with all the nausea. What happens if you drink less water during pregnancy? Is it a big concern?
Trust me, you don't want dehydration cramps when you're already carrying extra weight! I used to get terrible leg cramps with my twins if I missed my water target even by a bit. Drink up unless you want to feel like a dried prune.
Less water will cause painful burning urination and constipation, dear. Don't buy expensive drinks, just keep a copper bottle or regular water jug next to you all the time. Set a mobile alarm every hour to drink half a glass.
Less water can lead to UTIs, which are very common and risky during pregnancy, and it can even lower your amniotic fluid levels. My husband always tells his patients to aim for at least 2.5 to 3 liters daily. Keep a bottled tracker with you.
If you don't drink enough water, you'll get horrible constipation and acidity, which is already a nightmare! I keep flavored water or coconut water handy because plain water sometimes makes me feel blah. Sip throughout the day to keep things moving.
Oh please drink enough water, I used to worry so much about low amniotic fluid because of this! Dehydration can also cause UTI which is very scary during pregnancy. Please carry a bottle everywhere and take small sips even if you don't feel like it.
I used to forget drinking water during office meetings and ended up with severe headaches and fatigue. Now I keep a 1-liter bottle on my desk and make sure to finish three of those before log-off. It's the only way to manage a busy schedule.
During my checkup at the hospital, the doctor and the nutritionist specifically warned me that low hydration can cause early contractions and low amniotic fluid. They gave me a proper hydration chart to follow. Definitely ask your gynac about your daily intake target.
