My gynac wrote 2d echo on my report and i nodded like i understood but actually i had no idea. Is it different from the normal ultrasound i already did? Just trying to understand before my next appointment.
My doc explained a 2D echo of the baby's heart (fetal echo) checks the heart structure and beats in detail. It's usually done if there's a family history or something flagged in the anomaly scan. Totally painless, just like a normal sonography.
Echo means an ultrasound of the heart. In pregnancy it usually means checking the baby's heart in detail. Painless and quick. Whatever it shows, your doctor will explain, so go without tension.
I got confused by this too. Mine was a fetal 2D echo to check baby's heart properly. I was nervous but it was just an ultrasound on the tummy, nothing scary. Did anyone else get it done around 22 weeks?
In my case doctor advised fetal echo because my sugar was borderline. It just makes sure the heart is forming fine. If your gynac suggested it, get it done, it's reassurance not a red flag usually.
