My gynac wrote ANC profile on my prescription and i just nodded without asking what it is. Now im sitting at home wondering what all they check in this. Can someone explain in simple words?
It is just the standard set of pregnancy blood tests. Both times my gynac ordered it in first visit to check everything is normal. Nothing to panic about, it is routine.
My amma kept asking why so many tests, but the gynac explained each one calmly. These ANC tests just make sure mother and baby are fine. Best to trust your doctor on which ones you need.
ANC profile basically means antenatal checkup blood tests, my doctor told me it includes things like blood group, hemoglobin, sugar, thyroid and some infection screening. It gives a full picture of your health early in pregnancy. They usually do it in first trimester itself.
I got this prescription last week and honestly the long list scared me a little. Did anyone else feel nervous seeing so many tests at once? My doc said its all normal screening though.
Actually I asked the lab and ANC profile as a package was cheaper than doing each test separately. So if your doc writes it, get it done as a bundle. Compare two labs near you for price.
