My first scan showed a small cyst on one ovary and now im a little tense about it. doc said its common but i didnt fully understand. has anyone here had this during pregnancy?
Coming from PCOS I'm used to hearing the word cyst, and most are not dangerous. In pregnancy your doctor will track it and tell you if it needs anything, which is usually nothing. Try not to stress, just keep your appointments.
I had a cyst detected in early pregnancy and it scared me, but my doctor explained many are harmless ones that go away on their own. Please dont read too much online, get your doctor to explain your specific scan, that's the only thing that gave me peace.
Cysts in pregnancy are fairly common and most are simple and harmless, they often disappear on their own. The doctor keeps an eye on it through scans. Dont panic, but do go for the follow up scans they ask for.
It sounds scary but a lot of women have a cyst show up early and it just settles by itself. Let your doctor watch it and explain it to you properly. If you ever get sudden sharp pain on one side, call her right away.
My gynac said the common one in early pregnancy is a corpus luteum cyst which actually supports the pregnancy with hormones and usually resolves by the second trimester. They just monitor its size on scans. Most are nothing to worry about, but only your doctor can confirm yours.
