My gynac mentioned doing a doppler scan in my next visit and i just nodded but didnt really understand what it is. Im 7 months along now. Can someone explain what they check in this one?
I had a doppler done because my growth scan showed baby was on the smaller side. It checks blood flow to the placenta and baby. Nothing scary about the test itself, it just helps the doctor decide things, in my case it led to a planned c-section.
From what i understood it's a type of ultrasound that measures how blood is flowing to the baby and through the cord. Done more often in later pregnancy or if baby's growth needs watching. Totally painless, same machine as regular scan.
Doppler scan is a special ultrasound that checks the blood flow, like in the umbilical cord and to the baby. My doctor ordered one in the third trimester to make sure baby was getting enough blood and growing well. It's painless, just like a normal scan.
