My gynac mentioned something called an echo test in my next visit and i forgot to ask what exactly it is. Is it for the baby's heart or for me? thoda confused, pls explain if anyone has done it.
Echo is heart scan only. Sometimes for the baby (fetal echo), sometimes for the mom if she has heart issues. Ask ur gynac which one she wrote so u dont confuse yourself.
Oh I was wondering same thing, my doctor mentioned fetal echo last visit. From what she told me it just checks baby's heart in more detail than the normal anomaly scan. Did urs say why they recommended it?
Echocardiography just means an ultrasound focused on the heart. In pregnancy usually it's fetal echo to see baby's heart structure. Nothing invasive at all. But honestly ask ur gynac exactly why she advised it, that detail matters.
If u mean fetal echo, it's basically a detailed ultrasound of the baby's heart to check it's developing fine. My doc suggested it around 22 weeks because of a family heart history. Totally painless, just like a normal scan.
