My cousin mentioned this word after my BP was a little high at checkup and now I am scared. I have heard it can be serious but I dont fully understand it. What did your doctors explain about it?
My doctor explained it as a severe complication coming from very high blood pressure plus protein in urine. She said warning signs are bad headache, blurry vision, sudden swelling in face and hands, pain in upper tummy. Thats why they check BP and urine at every visit, so it gets caught early.
Simple way to think about it, pre eclampsia is the warning stage and eclampsia is when it becomes dangerous with fits. Keep an eye on swelling and headaches, and never miss BP checks. Both my pregnancies they checked it every single time.
It's basically when high BP in pregnancy gets serious and can cause seizures, the early stage is called pre eclampsia. I had high BP in my 7th month and they monitored me very closely. Please dont take BP lightly, regular checkups and reporting headaches or swelling to ur gynac is really important.
Dont scare urself reading about it na, it's not common and doctors watch for it at every checkup. Just go for all ur appointments and tell them if anything feels off.
From what I understand it's pregnancy related high BP that becomes severe. Honestly the best thing is just regular monitoring with ur gynac, they know exactly what to look for and how to manage it.
