first time pregnant and reading a lot of articles, they keep using the word fetus and embryo. i dont fully get the difference yet. can someone explain in simple words?
Fetus is basically the term for ur baby after the early weeks, like after 8 weeks roughly it goes from embryo to fetus. Its just the medical word they use, dont read too much into it. Ur doc will say baby on scans anyway.
I learnt this from my pregnancy app actually! First few weeks its called embryo, then around 9th week onwards its called fetus till birth. The app showed me size comparisons every week which was so cute, like baby is size of a lemon etc.
Simple way to remember, embryo in very early weeks then fetus once organs start forming. Both mean the same little one growing in ur tummy. You'll see it written in all ur scan reports so good u asked.
I had the same doubt when the report said fetus and I got worried why they didnt write baby haha. Then my friend told me its normal term. Anyone else felt confused reading these reports first time?
