Im 35 weeks and my gynac wrote GBS test on my next visit slip. I honestly never heard of this one before, all my friends who delivered didnt mention it. Can someone explain what it actually is and why they do it so late?
GBS is the group B strep test, my gynac did it around 36 weeks with a swab. She explained its just to check if a certain bacteria is there so they can give antibiotics during labour if needed. Nothing scary, totally routine.
I had this done before my C-section and it was such a minor thing in the middle of everything else. Honestly out of all the tests, this was the easiest one. Dont let it add to your worry list.
