Newly pregnant and my doc keeps saying gestation, gestation but honestly im a bit confused what it actually means. Is it counted from the missed period ya from conception? Someone pls explain in simple words.
Gestation is just the time from your last period to delivery, usually counted as 40 weeks or 280 days. Don't worry too much about the heavy terms, your doc will track it week by week for u.
It's the technical term for pregnancy duration, normally 40 weeks from your LMP. Just download an app and it'll track the days for u, no need to stress.
I felt so overwhelmed when my gynac first used this term, but it's just the 280 days of carrying your little miracle. Looking back, those weeks of gestation were so precious even with all the morning sickness.
Honestly, it's basically those 40 weeks where u feel like a walking balloon, and then baby comes and u forget what sleep even is! Technically it's the total time baby grows inside, around 9 months but feels like 9 years, trust me.
