Got my scan report today and it mentioned grade 1 placenta maturity. I dont really understand what that means and my appointment is only next week. Is it something normal or should i be concerned?
Dont worry beta, grade 1 is normal. Its just the placenta showing some changes as months pass. As long as your doctor is happy with the scan, all good.
Its about the placenta, not the baby. The doc grades placenta maturity from 0 to 3 on scan. Grade 1 usually shows up in 2nd trimester and is totally normal, it just means the placenta is slowly maturing as pregnancy goes on. My doctor explained it like that.
My report also said grade 1 and I got so worried first! But the doctor laughed and said its expected at my stage. Did anyone elses scan say the same? Made me feel better knowing its common.
It refers to how mature your placenta looks on ultrasound. Grade 1 is an early, normal stage. Honestly the best person to explain your specific report is your gynac, but its nothing to panic about.
