Got my first scan report today and it has GS written with some measurement. I didnt get a chance to ask the doc what it means. Can anyone explain what this is?
GS means gestational sac, it is the first thing seen on an early scan, often around 5 weeks. My doctor said seeing the sac is an early confirmation, and a bit later they look for the yolk sac and heartbeat. So GS is a normal early finding, nothing to worry about.
I remember panicking when my report only mentioned gestational sac. My doctor said it was just early and to come back in a week, and then we saw the heartbeat. So if its only GS for now, it can be totally normal, just early.
When my first scan just showed the GS i got nervous because there was no heartbeat yet. Did anyone else have only the sac early on and then it was fine? It worried me for a bit.
