My gynac wrote hba1c on my test list yaar and i dont really get what it checks. I know its something with sugar but is it different from the normal sugar test they do? someone pls explain in simple words.
My doctor explained it as your average sugar over the last 2-3 months, not just one day reading. In pregnancy they watch it more carefully because high sugar affects baby. She told me the GTT test is also done around 24-28 weeks separately.
I got to know all about hba1c when I had GD. Its basically a longer picture of ur sugar control. Mine was checked along with regular sugar tests. Just follow what ur doc says on diet and testing, dont go by random numbers online.
I was also confused when I saw it on my test list. Nurse told me its for sugar levels over time. Did anyone else get this done early? Mine was first trimester only.
Its a blood test showing average glucose levels. Useful but ur gynac will tell u what reading is fine for pregnancy, the targets are a bit different than normal. Best to ask her directly with ur report.
