Got my anomaly scan report and there are these short forms HC AC written with numbers. The doc was in a hurry so couldnt ask properly. Can someone explain what these mean?
HC is Head Circumference and AC is Abdominal Circumference. Doctors use these parameters along with femur length to estimate the fetal weight. It's best not to stress over small variations and let your gynac evaluate the overall growth report.
When I first saw my ultrasound report, I felt so lost looking at all these abbreviations. HC means Head Circumference and AC is Abdominal Circumference of the baby. It was so emotional to realize they are measuring my tiny baby's head and tummy to see how they are growing!
Seeing these terms on my baby's scan report used to bring tears to my eyes, thinking how small my little one was. HC measures the head and AC is for the belly. Don't worry, your doctor is just keeping a close eye to make sure your sweet baby is growing perfectly.
These are just standard growth measurements on your ultrasound report. HC is head circumference and AC is abdominal circumference, basically tracking the baby's head and tummy size. My doctor explained that as long as they are growing steadily in proportion, everything is perfectly fine.
