Got my first trimester reports and there was something called hcv test in the list. Doc didnt explain much and i forgot to ask. Can someone tell me what this actually checks?
HCV stands for Hepatitis C Virus. It is a mandatory screening test in almost all hospitals to prevent mother-to-child transmission during birth, totally routine.
They take so much blood for tests in the first trimester, I felt like a voluntary donor lol! HCV is just another safety tick-mark on their long list, completely normal.
I remember googling this in panic when my doctor wrote it. It is just a standard safety screening to make sure you don't have Hepatitis C, very common in first trimester panels.
This is a routine screening for Hepatitis C. It's standard procedure, but please discuss your reports directly with your gynac to understand everything clearly.
It's a medical blood test for Hepatitis C to keep the baby safe during delivery. Since it's a diagnostic test, always let your doctor explain the results to you.
