At my first checkup the doctor wrote down a whole list of blood tests and this was one of them. Im a first time mom so all this is new to me and i didnt fully understand why its done. Can someone explain?
Its one of the standard antenatal screening tests recommended for everyone. The purpose is early detection so the baby can be protected if ever needed. If u have any questions about the report, ur doctor will explain it clearly.
Dont stress about it dear, its a basic screening test they do for every mom to be. The idea is to keep both u and baby safe. Its part of the normal first trimester blood panel, not something special about u.
Its just a normal part of the first set of pregnancy blood tests, they do it for everyone. Dont feel singled out or worried. Both my pregnancies it was on the list along with thyroid, hemoglobin, sugar etc.
My gynac explained its a routine blood test done for all pregnant women, not because anything is wrong. It just checks for HIV early so that if needed, steps can be taken to protect the baby. Its completely standard, almost everyone does it.
