We are planning to conceive in few months and my MIL keeps saying im thoda underweight for it. Just wanted to understand whats a healthy weight to be at before getting pregnant. Anyone knows what range the doctors usually look for?
Theres no one number yaar, it depends on your height and what your weight was before getting pregnant. My gynac told me to gain around 10-12 kg total and that was fine for me both times. Best to just ask your doc to check your BMI and tell you a range.
Ideal weight is different for everyone, it's based on your starting BMI honestly. The doctor calculates it at your first visit and gives you a target gain. Don't compare with other pregnant friends, har body alag hai.
I gained a bit fast in 2nd trimester and my doc kept an eye on it because of my sugar levels. So apart from total weight, the speed of gaining also matters na. Just keep going for regular checkups and they will guide you properly.
I was worried about same thing. My gynac said focus less on the scale and more on eating well plus light walking if she allows. Steady slow gain is what they want, not a fixed magic weight.
At every monthly checkup they weigh you anyway, so you'll get tracked without spending extra. Mine charted it through all 9 months and adjusted my diet when needed. Simple and free basically.
