I had really bad vomiting and couldnt keep water down, so my doctor put me on IV fluids for a day. It is basically fluids and sometimes nutrients through the drip when you are dehydrated. It helped me feel human again honestly.
IV just means medicine or fluids given directly into the vein. In pregnancy they sometimes use it for dehydration, severe vomiting or iron if tablets dont suit. Your gynac decides if you actually need it, dont worry about the word.
Dont get scared by the term beta, it is a common thing. If your doctor suggested it, it is usually just to support you when eating drinking is hard. Ask her exactly why she wants it, she will explain calmly.
