First time pregnant here, 24 weeks. Everyone keeps using the word labour and contractions and honestly I dont fully understand what actually happens. Can someone explain in simple words please.
My gynac broke it into stages for me, first the contractions and dilation, then the actual delivery, then delivering the placenta. She said to head to hospital when contractions become regular and strong. Knowing the stages made me less scared honestly.
Labour is your body finally saying okay enough cooking, time to get this baby out. It is dramatic and long but you come out the other side a mom. You got this, truly.
Labour is basically when your body starts the process of delivering the baby, with contractions and the cervix opening up. For me it started with cramps that got stronger and closer together. It was intense but our bodies really know what to do.
I went through it just weeks ago, it starts slow and then ramps up. The early part you can manage at home with your doctor's guidance, but once it is regular you go in. Tiring but so worth it when you hold the baby.
