Im a ftm and my due date is coming close, getting nervous about the whole delivery part. Everyone keeps talking about labour pain but i dont really know what it actually feels like. Can someone explain how it starts?
I started with the contractions but mine ended in a C-section as baby wasnt descending. The early pain was tightening in front and pressure in back. Just gently saying, every birth goes its own way, so dont fix any one picture in your head.
Its your body slowly opening up to bring baby out, comes as tightening waves with rest in between. It sounds scary but your team guides you through every step. If water breaks or pains get regular, call your hospital.
My doctor explained the 5-1-1 rule to me, contractions every 5 min, lasting 1 min, for 1 hour, thats when to come in. She said early labour can feel like backache and cramps. Helped me not rush in too early.
Real labour comes in a regular pattern, tightening of the belly that builds up, eases, then comes back, getting closer over time. Braxton hicks are random and stop if you move. When they get regular and intense, time them and head to hospital.
Im in my last weeks and asking everyone the same thing lol. From what aunties tell me its like period cramps but on steroids that come and go. Im equal parts curious and terrified honestly.
For me labour pain started like strong period cramps in the lower belly and back, then it came in waves that got closer and stronger over hours. Between the waves I could breathe and rest. Thats how I knew it was the real thing and not just practice ones.
