Im noticing some sticky discharge lately and i keep reading the word mucus everywhere but dont fully understand what it means in pregnancy. Im a first time mom so everything feels new. can someone explain in simple words?
I noticed more discharge in my second trimester and got scared. Someone told me clear or whitish is usually normal. Did others also feel this increase, it freaked me out a bit?
I lost my mucus plug a few days before labour, it looked jelly like. My gynac had told me it can be a sign things are starting. So when it happened I just informed her and stayed calm.
My doctor explained that the cervix forms a mucus plug that protects the baby during pregnancy. Near labour it can come out, sometimes with a little pink tinge. She told me to call her if I saw it along with cramps or leaking.
Some extra mucus and discharge is just normal in pregnancy, dont worry too much. But if it smells bad, has blood, or you feel itching, get it checked. Better to ask than to stress.
