Got my blood report and it mentioned neutrophilia, i dont understand what it means and got a bit worried reading it. Will ask my doctor on next visit but till then if someone can explain in simple words. is it common in pregnancy?
I used to get scared seeing high words on lab reports too. Honestly one value out of range doesnt mean much by itself. Take it to your doctor, their reading of the whole picture is what counts.
Neutrophilia just means a higher count of a type of white blood cell, and a mild rise is actually common in pregnancy itself. It can also go up with infection, so context matters. Show the report to your gynac and they will tell you if it is the normal pregnancy rise or something to look into.
When I asked, my doctor said pregnancy naturally increases neutrophils as part of normal changes, especially later on. She said a slightly high value alone, without symptoms, usually isnt alarming. But she always read it together with my other counts, so let your gynac interpret yours.
