My gynac told me they will do an NST in my next visit since im close to due date now. I nodded but honestly didnt understand what it actually is. Can someone explain what happens in this scan?
I just had a bunch of these in my last month. They put belts around your belly, you press a button when baby moves, and machine prints baby's heartbeat graph. Honestly relaxing, I almost dozed off. Nothing to fear at all.
It's a simple test to see baby's heartbeat pattern and check baby is doing well, usually in third trimester. No needles, no pain. They often ask you to eat something before so baby is active during it.
Oh I was nervous when my doc first said NST, thought it was something big. But reading here it sounds simple. So they just monitor the heartbeat right? Good to know, was a bit scared of the name honestly.
NST is non stress test, they strap two belts on your tummy to record baby's heartbeat and your contractions. It checks if baby's heart rate responds well with movements. My doc did it in the last weeks, totally painless, just sit back for 20-30 mins.
