My doc wrote NT scan on the next appointment slip and im 11 weeks now. Pehli baar ye naam suna so thoda nervous hu kya hota hai isme. Can someone explain what they actually check?
Arey, meri saas bol rahi thi hamare zamaane mein toh koi scan nahi hota tha, par doctor ne kaha NT scan bohot zaroori hai. Isme baby ki genetic growth check hoti hai 3rd month mein. Bilkul skip mat karna, aacha hota hai.
NT scan stands for Nuchal Translucency scan, done around 11 to 13 weeks. My doctor at the hospital explained it is to check the baby's neck fold thickness for any genetic abnormalities. You can ask your hospital's sonographer for a detailed explanation during your appointment.
NT scan thoda mehnge side pe hota hai par har doctor ise recommend karta hai first trimester ke end mein. Aap kisi acche standard lab se karwa lo jahan package deal chal rahi ho, paise bhi bachenge aur report bhi sahi milegi.
I know how scary it feels when doctor writes down scans like NT scan, I was crying with anxiety before my appointment! But believe me, it's just a routine screening test and mostly everyone's results come out normal. Stay strong, it will go well.
It's a very standard scan, usually done in the first trimester. They just measure a small fluid-filled space at the back of the baby's neck. My report was perfectly fine, and it’s actually beautiful because you get to see the baby moving!
Please consult your gynecologist to schedule the NT scan on time, as there is a very strict window (between 11 and 13.6 weeks) for it. Don't delay it because once that time passes, they can't do this specific check. Always follow your gynac's schedule.
