My lab report has one normal range and my gynac mentioned pregnancy range can be different. I am in first trimester and trying to understand my number before next visit. Anyone knows how your doctor explained TSH range?
My endocrinologist explained they keep pregnancy TSH tighter than the regular lab range, and it shifts a bit by trimester. She didnt want me to compare with the normal report range. Best to show your reports to your doctor, they will tell you your exact target and adjust the dose.
I have thyroid issues from before and learnt the pregnancy targets are different and lower. I never tried to judge my own reports, I just sent them to my doctor each time and she adjusted things. Please do the same, the safe range really depends on your case.
From what my doctor told me, the TSH target in pregnancy is kept lower than normal, roughly trimester wise, something like under 2.5 in early pregnancy. But honestly the exact range your doctor wants for you can differ, so go by what your gynac or endo says for your reports, dont self interpret.
The pregnancy ranges are stricter than the usual ones and vary by trimester, so the number on a normal lab report can mislead you. Rather than going by a general figure, get your doctor to interpret your specific TSH value, that is the safest way.
