Saw this short form ptl written in a pregnancy group and on some report and i have no clue what it means. Felt a bit dumb to ask there so asking here. Can someone explain pls?
It means preterm labour, when contractions start too early. I had a scare with this so I take it seriously, if you ever feel regular cramps, pelvic pressure or leaking before your due time, go to the hospital, dont delay. They can sometimes slow it down if caught early.
PTL is preterm labour, labour before 37 weeks. Most pregnancies dont have it but its good you are aware. Watch for repeated cramping, back pain that comes and goes, or any leaking, and call your gynac straight away if it happens.
It stands for preterm labour beta, nothing to scare yourself with right now. Just know the warning signs and keep your doctor a phone call away. If you ever feel something starting too early, reach out to them at once and let them check.
PTL usually stands for preterm labour, meaning labour that starts before 37 weeks. My doctor explained the signs to watch are regular tightening or cramps, low back pressure, fluid leaking or any bleeding before that time. If you notice those, it is an urgent call to the doctor, not a wait and watch thing.
