My gynac wrote radiology scan on my paper and i just nodded without asking properly. Is it the same as the usual ultrasound or something different? feeling a bit silly asking but i really dont know.
Radiology is just the imaging department, but for pregnancy it is almost always ultrasound which is safe. They only do xray type scans if there is a real medical reason and with precautions. So when your gynac says scan, it is the harmless ultrasound.
In pregnancy radiology mostly means ultrasound, which is sound waves and totally safe for the baby. Things like xray or CT are usually avoided unless really needed, and then they shield the belly. My doc said ultrasound is the normal one they use throughout.
Oh okay so the regular scans I keep getting are radiology too? I was confused thinking radiology means xray and got scared for a sec. Good to know ultrasound is the safe one.
