Saw this term on some pregnancy app and got curious, my gynac hasnt mentioned anything yet. Im 30 weeks now. Is this something they test for later? wanted to understand before my next visit.
Its a bacterial carrier status, not an illness as such. The main thing is your doctor knowing so they can manage labour safely. Ask your gynac if and when they test for it in your case.
I tested positive for strep B and honestly it was no big drama, they just gave me antibiotics through the drip during labour. Delivery went totally fine. The team handled it smoothly.
My doctor explained group B strep is a common bacteria some women carry, usually harmless to you but they want to know before delivery. They test for it late in pregnancy and if positive give antibiotics during labour to protect the baby. Nothing to panic about, its routine in many places.
