What is the best medicine for cough during pregnancy?
Stuck with a really bad cough since 4-5 days, throat is paining and cant sleep properly at night. Im 20 weeks so scared to take anything on my own. What did your doc give you? im going to call mine also but just wanted to know.
I always called my hospital's emergency helpline or messaged my gynac's team even for a minor cough. They have a safe list of approved medicines for each trimester. It's much better to get their direct prescription rather than guessing.
During pregnancy, especially after IVF, we have to be extremely careful with any medicine. Please do not take any over-the-counter cough syrups without checking with your doctor. For mild relief, you can try inhaling steam or drinking warm water with honey.
Since we can't have random medicines, I made myself delicious hot soups and warm turmeric milk to soothe my throat! Honestly, a warm bowl of chicken soup or tomato soup with black pepper worked like magic for my cough.
When I got a terrible cough in my first trimester, I felt so scared that the pressure would hurt my baby. I felt so relieved after my doctor gave me a safe syrup. Ginger tea and honey also gave me temporary comfort.
I know how scary it feels to cough continuously and worry if it's affecting the baby, I used to panic so much. But baby is safe inside! Just avoid self-medicating and ask your gynac for a safe prescription to be completely worry-free.
Never self-medicate with cough syrups during pregnancy as many contain ingredients unsafe for the baby. Just call your gynac, they will prescribe a safe expectorant. Stick to warm ginger water till then.
Actually, taking random meds is a big no-no during pregnancy, yaar. Just do some steam inhalation and gargle with warm salt water. If it doesn't get better in two days, please call your doctor.
