During my last scan, the doctor mentioned 'FHR' but I didn't quite catch the full explanation. Could someone tell me what FHR stands for and what it means in pregnancy?
It stands for Fetal Heart Rate. My doctor explained that it fluctuates throughout pregnancy, but as long as it's within the healthy range on your scans, there's nothing to worry about.
I totally understand that feeling when you look at the scan report and wonder about all these short forms! FHR is Fetal Heart Rate, and hearing that tiny heartbeat for the first time is the most magical feeling in the world.
On my reports, FHR was always written as Fetal Heart Rate. I just remember my doctor saying my baby's rate was perfectly fine, which was all I needed to hear.
