Saw this word parity written on my report and the doctor said something with numbers also. Didnt fully understand what it means. Can someone explain in simple words? this is my second pregnancy if that matters.
My doctor explained parity means the number of times you've delivered a baby past a certain stage, not the number of pregnancies. So gravida is total pregnancies and parity is deliveries. That's why on the file you'll see things like G2P1.
It's basically how many times you've given birth to a viable baby. Pregnancies are counted separately as gravida. So a first timer is para zero, after one delivery para one and so on, simple once you get it.
