People keep using the words gynac and obstetrician and im confused if they are the same or different. What exactly does an obstetrician do through the pregnancy and delivery? Just trying to understand who im seeing for what.
An obstetrician handles pregnancy and childbirth, while a gynac deals with women's health in general, though often it's the same person. Mine monitored everything from scans to my BP. Having one consistent doctor through it all really helped me.
Basically the obstetrician is the doctor who looks after you through pregnancy, delivery and a bit after. They track the baby's growth, manage any issues and deliver the baby. Think of them as your main go to person for the whole journey.
Simply put, they are the ones managing your pregnancy and conducting the delivery. I stuck with the same obstetrician for both my kids and that continuity was great. Pick one you're comfortable talking to openly.
