What is the safe position to sleep during pregnancy?
I'm pregnant and constantly worried about how I sleep. What is considered the safest sleeping position during pregnancy, especially as the belly grows? I want to make sure I'm not harming the baby.
I am trying my best to sleep on the left side, but my left shoulder and hip get so sore! Is it okay if I switch to the right side occasionally, or should we strictly stick to the left?
I used to get so freaked out when I woke up flat on my back! Honestly, it's totally fine, your body naturally alerts you. Just gently roll over to your left side and don't panic.
Sleeping on your left side is considered very good for the baby's health. Just say a little prayer, stay positive, and let your body rest peacefully in that position.
Oh I was so paranoid about this! I literally built a wall of five pillows around me so I wouldn't roll onto my back and affect the baby's oxygen. Try keeping a pillow behind your back to stop yourself from rolling over.
In my experience, sleeping on the left side is the absolute best for both you and the baby. It helps kidneys clear fluids better. A small soft cushion between your knees will also give you great comfort.
Now that my toddler is running around, those sleep struggles feel so distant! Left side is definitely the safest position as it helps blood flow. Just use a regular pillow under your belly for comfort.
